2X Project Profit and a Fully Booked Year - The Mark Ink Story

How Mark went from unstable bookings to 1.5 years of full-capacity stability, doubled project profit, and had 2026 fully booked by September.

By Greg Gelf

Mark Drantiev was our second tattoo artist. He tattooed Hadar for the first time in March 2025. Hadar loved the experience so much that we knew Mark was someone we wanted to work with long-term. By then, we had already started seeing results with our first artist. Mark enrolled second.

The first thing you notice about Mark is his personality. Charmer. Loved by his clients. Hardworking, sharp, motivated. That energy shows up in the studio - people book with Mark because they enjoy being around him as much as they enjoy his art.

What Was Working, and What Wasn’t

Mark was working - but not consistently enough. He knew he could do more.

The problem wasn’t that Mark had no clients. Because Mark is an awesome person, people would come get tattooed because they loved him. But not all of the work coming in was strategically valuable to him.

Bookings were unstable month to month. Clients weren’t always in the exact style he wanted to focus on. Projects weren’t big enough to build the kind of business Mark was capable of building.

The gap wasn’t talent, and it wasn’t lovability. Mark’s booking pipeline was being filled by anyone who liked him personally, instead of by clients bringing him the exact type of work he actually wanted to do.

Mark was willing to do whatever it took to change that.

The Strategy - Pick One Specific Direction, Optimize Everything Around It

The first thing we did was decide, together, on the single best type of project for Mark to specialize in going forward.

Then we optimized everything around that decision:

  • We restructured his pricing to specifically push clients toward the exact project size we wanted. Smaller quick pieces got priced up. Larger, more complex pieces got priced to reward closing them.
  • We ran ads featuring projects at the size we wanted more of - not the whole portfolio, but the specific type of work.
  • We ran what we call vibe ads - content designed to build brand and premium positioning around Mark’s specific direction rather than to sell any single project directly.

The Style Loop

Once we pinned the projects we wanted Mark to close more of, something interesting happened.

Mark started actively pushing every consultation and every quote toward that known direction. He wasn’t just accepting what came in - he was steering clients toward the specific kind of project we’d chosen. That steering created more ideal projects month after month.

At the same time, the audience that wanted that exact type of project started to feel safer booking with Mark. When they saw his page and his ads, they could tell at a glance that this was the artist for their specific kind of piece. The signal was clean. The trust was built before the first message.

The Style Loop is the mechanism: a narrow direction attracts narrow-fit clients, which produces more narrow-direction work, which strengthens the signal further. Every round of the loop, the fit tightens.

Stability Over Time

The biggest win from this approach isn’t a spike month or a one-off big project. It’s stability.

For over a year, Mark has been working at full capacity every month while closing bigger and more profitable projects than he was closing before. His brand has become instantly recognizable internationally - artists and clients in Europe, North America, and beyond know Mark Ink at a glance.

What Actually Worked

We created a very specific line, but we didn’t need many projects each month to fully book. Once the direction was clear and the pricing pushed toward larger projects, Mark’s calendar started filling with fewer, bigger pieces. Less physical strain, more revenue, less friction with clients over price.

In the long term, it became increasingly easier to close this type of project. Every completed project produced a portfolio piece that attracted the next similar client. Every ad ran on stronger and stronger creative because the pattern was so clear. The whole system compounded.

By September 2026, Mark’s entire year was already fully booked. Not a partial year, not a rolling three-month view - the whole 2026 calendar closed and paid for.

In Mark’s Own Words

From Mark’s WhatsApp update on August 31, 2026 (translated from Hebrew):

“I’ve got a crazy update for you guys.

Yesterday I closed 10-12 sessions, around $13k in revenue in one day. Deposits paid and scheduled crazy pieces. I did another consultation now for a double session. Have 3 more consultations today - one client from Amsterdam, two from here.

I’m at 12-14 closes at the moment, and the day just started. Two more closes and 2026 booking is closed.

I forgot - also closed an INSANE leg sleeve, 6-8 sessions. Anyway do the math, it’s lots of sessions.“

By September 1, 2026, Mark’s 2026 calendar was officially fully booked.

Grind on, Mark 🫡

What This Story Actually Shows

Same lesson we keep seeing across our artists: growth isn’t about attracting more clients. It’s about attracting the right clients, and building the system that pushes every new inquiry toward the specific projects you want more of.

For Mark, the art was already there. The personality was already there. The clients were coming in - they just weren’t always the right ones. Once we tightened the direction and priced everything around it, the same artist started producing completely different results.
